Environmental management involves the management of all components of the bio-physical environment. It incorporates sustainable development. It is the strategy for organizing human activities that affect the environment in order to achieve an adequate quality of life while preventing or mitigating environmental problems.
Environmental management responds to the “how to do it? ” questions raised by sustainable development, i.e. how to achieve an appropriate balance in economic development, population growth, wise use of resources, environmental protection, and conservation. Environmental management provides an integrated concept: including both the actions to be executed on the operational side, as well as the guidelines and policies for the governing bodies, which mediate those actions.
